Features: The Childhood is the first part of Gorky's autobiographical trilogy, telling the story of Gorky's life from the age of three to ten. After his father's death, Alexey followed his mother and grandmother to his grandmother's house. It was a typical bourgeois family where relatives showed no warmth towards each other, constantly arguing over interests until they fought, and eventually they separated, with his mother leaving as well. In this house, only his grandmother showed him affection. Alexey made some new friends at his grandmother's house, but they all left one after another. Later, his mother returned home and prepared to marry. His grandfather sold the house as her dowry, and from then on, Alexey began a life of hardship. His stepfather lost all his wealth, spent his days doing nothing productive, even beat his mother, and even went to school to spread rumors that Alexey was a thief. Amidst poverty and illness, his mother passed away. From then on, Alexey bid farewell to his childhood.
