Will being overdue be related to genetics to some extent?

Patient's question:

Hello, I am currently 41 weeks and 5 days pregnant, with my due date being January 16th. However, I haven’t shown any signs of labor yet. I’ve heard that if labor doesn’t start within a week after the due date, doctors are likely to recommend a cesarean section. But I want to give natural birth, so I’m a bit worried. Is my situation problematic? Will it affect natural birth? Is it normal? (My mother was over her due date by more than 20 days when she was pregnant with me. Could this have something to do with genetics?)

Doctor's answer:

It's okay, it's usually normal if it's within a week or two past the due date. But you should get checked to see if the amniotic fluid is normal. As long as the placenta hasn't aged, the amniotic fluid is sufficient, and it's not cloudy, everything should be fine.
