Two months after taking medication for an abortion, my period still hasn't come.

Patient's question:

I had a medication abortion on November 8th. After the abortion, things were relatively normal at first. A week later, there was no more bleeding, but then bleeding returned. I went to the hospital for a check-up on December 4th and was prescribed oxytocin injections. By December 9th, the bleeding had stopped. However, by December 26th, my period still hadn't arrived. I went back to the hospital, where they said my uterine lining was too thin and my follicle hadn't ruptured. A urine test showed no pregnancy at the time, and they prescribed Angelica Sinensis Blood Nourishing Granules. I only took it for three days, and my period still hasn't come.
I had sexual intercourse on December 12th, December 18th, and January 6th and 7th, using contraception. On January 4th, I took a pregnancy test at home, which was negative. I'm seeking help to understand the reasons why my period hasn't arrived and what medication I should take.

Doctor's answer:

After medication-induced abortion, the endometrium is excessively expelled, so that the endometrium cannot be fully repaired in the short term, resulting in amenorrhea. After medication-induced abortion, endocrine changes occur, especially the sudden decline in the level of human chorionic gonadotropin, which makes the ovary unable to respond normally to the gonadotropin from the anterior lobe of the pituitary, leading to amenorrhea. Generally, some qi-tonifying and nourishing herbs are recommended. Long-term amenorrhea can lead to infertility.
