What does sterilization mean

Patient's question:

I already have two children and don't want to make my wife pregnant anymore. After comparing various contraception methods, I found that they cause too much harm to women. That's why I thought of a contraception method that men can use, which is vasectomy. I don't have much knowledge about this.
What kind of help do I need: What does vasectomy mean?

Doctor's answer:

Men who undergo vasectomy typically have the vas deferens ligated. The vas deferens is relatively free within the scrotum and can be easily felt through the skin as a tube with the thickness of a matchstick. It is a hard and resilient tube. Accompanying it is a bundle of soft tissue, which includes veins, arteries, and nerve fibers, collectively known as the spermatic cord in medical terms. During the surgery, only the vas deferens is ligated while preserving the integrity of the blood vessels and nerves.
During the procedure, the doctor uses the left thumb and index finger to pinch the vas deferens through the scrotal skin, gently pushing the tube toward the subcutaneous tissue, while being careful not to compress the contents of the spermatic cord. After administering local anesthesia with a needle, the doctor makes a small incision of about half a centimeter in the skin and ties both ends of the tube with silk thread.
