Features: Liszt was a great and outstanding pianist who developed piano art and playing techniques with his visionary approach. It is said that Liszt spent four to five hours every day practicing finger techniques. In the 12 years after 1888, he created numerous finger exercise books. In the year after Liszt's death (1887), his student Alexander Winterberer published these finger exercises of Liszt. The pianist and educator Professor Esteban combined the 12 volumes of Liszt's finger exercises published by Winterberer into one book and organized them. The editor of this book further organized and annotated the original scores, removing some repeated passages that had been transposed. From the exercises, it is not difficult to see that Liszt placed great importance on finger independence. He used direct and effective methods to address technical challenges. These exercises have laid a comprehensive foundation for playing Liszt's difficult pieces and concert etudes.
