Medication abortion with uterine curettage, continuous bleeding

Patient's question:

After taking medication for a week, I had a D&C procedure. After the D&C, my bleeding didn't stop completely for a week, but it was very minimal. However, I missed taking the birth control pill you prescribed at night, and my bleeding increased. I took it later in the day, but the bleeding still continued. Since I went home for vacation, I asked the doctor here, and they said I didn't take the pill the next day. Now I'm not sure whether I should continue taking it or stop.

Doctor's answer:

The reasons for bleeding may include the following possibilities: First, there may be infections such as inflammation or erosion in the cervix; second, there may be damage to the endometrium that has not fully recovered; or both may exist simultaneously. It is recommended to undergo appropriate examinations based on your own situation. If this persists for a long time, it can lead to anemia and increase the likelihood of infection.
