Can you have children after getting an IUD removed?

Patient's question:

Age 48, took out the IUD on May 10th, had her period on May 27th, and monitored the follicle on the 29th. Monitored every other day until yesterday, but it was still only 1×1.1. Will this follicle grow? Due to special reasons, do I need to have a child? Can I do IVF?

Doctor's answer:

After having the IUD removed, you should not try to get pregnant immediately. The intrauterine device placed in the uterine cavity can cause aseptic inflammatory reactions in the endometrium. Therefore, regardless of how long the IUD has been in place, as a foreign object, the contraceptive device will inevitably cause some degree of damage and impact on the endometrial tissue. This is unfavorable for the growth and development of the embryo or fetus, which may lead to defects in the newborn, resulting in poor outcomes.
It is recommended that you wait for a period of time, approximately 2-3 normal menstrual cycles, before considering pregnancy. This allows the endometrium enough time to recover, which is beneficial for ensuring a healthy birth.
