Research on the Arched Musical Structure

Author: Li Xiaonuo

Publish Date: 2006-04-01
Features: This book is divided into two parts, comprising five chapters. The first part, "Analysis of the Form and Evolution of Arch Structures," consists of three chapters, primarily discussing the manifestation of arch structures in various genres of musical works and different historical periods. The second part, "Reflections on the Form and Evolution of Arch Structures," includes two chapters (i.e., the fourth and fifth chapters of this book). Through the analysis, research, and examination presented in these five chapters, the author attempts to conduct a relatively comprehensive study of arch structures—a typical structural form and structural thinking of the 20th century—with the aim of exploring the intrinsic relationships among the various forms presented in the "origin," "flow," and "transformation" of the musical structures (or thinking) they represent. At the same time, the author sincerely hopes that this work will provide new perspectives for the study of musical structures and encourage musicologists to pay attention to the interactive relationship between musical forms and aesthetic psychology.
