What tests are needed to confirm cervical polyps

Patient's question:

Recently, I haven't been feeling well and have been experiencing some symptoms. I'm not sure if it's cervical polyps, and before treatment, I want to know what tests I need to undergo.

Doctor's answer:

Microscopic examination: Endometrial polyps are composed of endometrium and are covered by a layer of cuboidal or low-columnar epithelium. The central part of the polyp forms a fibrous longitudinal axis, containing blood vessels. Due to the narrow stalk, the blood supply is reduced, making the polyp highly susceptible to degeneration. Thrombosis within the polyp vessels is most likely to occur, turning the polyp deep purple due to congestion. Necrosis often begins at the top, and the polyp may eventually decay and fall off.
Cervical biopsy: If the symptoms of cervical polyposis are severe, a cervical biopsy can be performed for confirmation. The pathological diagnostic criteria for the malignancy of polyps require the following: the entire morphology of the polyp must be observed; the malignancy is confined within the polyp; and there is no cancerous transformation in the surrounding endometrium.
