"The Lecture on Music·Art·Life—About 'Music Notes'" is another significant work by Comrade Li Lanqing following "Li Lanqing on Education" and "Li Lanqing on Music Notes." Minister of Education Zhou Ji addressed the launch event, which was moderated by Vice Minister of Education Chen Xiaoya. At the launch, Li Lanqing also signed and presented books to some faculty and student representatives.
It is reported that after stepping down from his leadership positions in the Party and State in 2003, Comrade Li Lanqing published two works, "Li Lanqing on Education" and "Li Lanqing on Music Notes," which garnered strong responses from all sectors of society. After the publication of "Li Lanqing on Music Notes," many readers and universities expressed a desire to engage in dialogue and exchange with Comrade Li Lanqing on related topics, particularly hoping that he could personally visit universities to deliver lectures, further promoting the development of quality education in schools. Under strong demand from universities, Comrade Li Lanqing embarked on a lecture tour titled "Music·Art·Life" starting in December 2004, with Tsinghua University as the first stop. Over the course of more than a year, Comrade Li tirelessly delivered over 40 lectures at universities in more than 20 provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities across the country. Faculty and students from hundreds of universities attended these lectures, with an estimated total of over 100,000 participants. Everyone was deeply impressed by Comrade Li's erudition, refined demeanor, and profound understanding of music, as well as his heartfelt passion for education and his unwavering dedication to art education. They were inspired by his insightful perspectives and rich life experiences.
"The Lecture on Music·Art·Life—About 'Music Notes'" is a compilation of the essence of over 40 lectures under the theme "Music·Art·Life." The lectures combine Comrade Li's extensive life experiences, unique work and life insights, and deep musical and artistic cultivation. Through clear theoretical explanations and vivid examples from both the past and present, as well as from China and the world, the lectures showcase the unique charm of music and art and their special relationship with life. The content spans from art education to improving overall quality, from whole-brain development to innovation, from classical music to popular songs, from music to life, from work to daily life, and from domestic affairs to foreign relations. It is broad yet vivid, profound yet rich in meaning.
A DVD is also included at the end of the book, featuring 120 minutes of lecture footage and a 20-minute special introduction titled "A Symphony Across Time—Exploring Li Lanqing's 'Music·Art·Life.'" In his speech, Minister of Education Zhou Ji emphasized the need to fully implement the Party's educational policies and effectively advance quality education, ensuring that young students develop holistically in moral, intellectual, physical, and aesthetic aspects. He highlighted that "Music·Art·Life" holds significant educational value in enhancing the cultural literacy of the entire nation, especially young people, and in building a harmonious socialist society, which will undoubtedly have a positive impact.
Experts from the education and cultural arts sectors, as well as representatives of university and secondary school principals in Beijing, attended the launch event and listened to the lectures.
