Patient's question:
Consult some questions about cervical erosion, is it better to take medicine or have surgery.Doctor's answer:
Hello: How is the treatment determined? It mainly depends on the severity of your condition. There are many methods for treating cervical erosion, and appropriate choices can be made based on the degree of erosion. The main methods are as follows:(1)Medication: For small erosion areas with superficial inflammation, the following medication methods can be used:
① 10~20% silver nitrate: Apply locally once a week, with 2-4 applications per course.
② Potassium permanganate: Apply locally after menstruation, and repeat the medication once after 1-2 months. When using the above medications, be careful to avoid burning the surrounding vaginal walls. Also, ensure disinfection during medication to prevent reinfection.
(2)Physical Therapy: Used for larger erosion areas with deeper inflammation.
① Electrocautery: Use a special electrocautery device to burn the erosion tissue, causing it to necrose and fall off. It must reach a certain depth for effective treatment.
② Cryotherapy: Use a special rapid freezing device to freeze, necrose, and cause the diseased tissue of the cervical erosion to fall off. Liquid nitrogen is commonly used as the cryoprotectant, which can lower the temperature of the cryoprobe to -196°C. Apply it to the surface of the cervix to freeze and necrose the erosion tissue, causing it to fall off and regenerate new squamous epithelium. It can be cured in one session. Generally, there are no adverse reactions, though some patients may experience mild dizziness or lower abdominal pain.
③ Laser Therapy: Often uses a carbon dioxide laser treatment device. The special laser treatment head is used to irradiate the erosion tissue of the cervix, causing it to carbonize, form a scab, and fall off, then regenerate new squamous epithelium. It can usually be cured in one session. There is no special discomfort during the procedure.
