What are the differences between abdominal pain caused by pelvic inflammatory disease and enteritis?

Patient's question:

Female, 32 years old. Three years ago after a cesarean section, she experienced frequent pain at the injection site and surrounding area of the waist where the anesthetic was administered, and also developed hemorrhoids. In November, her menstrual period lasted five days longer than usual, with a duration of nine days. In December, her menstrual period lasted twelve days, with bright red blood, but five days later, she had dark brown vaginal discharge for five days. Recently, she has experienced slight lower back pain, mild abdominal pain, slight rectal prolapse, a sensation of heaviness at the anus, and sometimes loose or sometimes dry stools, accompanied by abdominal pain. Her vaginal discharge was normal before, but recently, after her menstrual period, she has had some brown discharge. Could this be gynecological inflammation, intestinal inflammation, or caused by hemorrhoids? Please advise. I urgently need a reply! Thank you!

Doctor's answer:

Hello: Based on your condition, you have mild pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) along with enteritis. Your abdominal pain is likely a result of both PID and enteritis. However, it can be distinguished: the pain caused by PID is located in the lower abdomen, while the pain caused by enteritis is near the navel.
