Features: After a busy week, I finally sat in front of my computer again. During the past week, many things happened, and it seemed that many people in the world were very busy. In this campus of Fudan, the most important thing to me was meeting all the students of Chemistry Department 0122. Before meeting you, I had always imagined what kind of people would make up this group and how many young people with different characteristics, holding their own ideals, would come to this collective. Perhaps these questions will still remain a mystery for some time to come, but the process of solving the mystery has begun on September 12, 2001. In the next four years, I will uncover these mysteries together with you. Of course, I also hope that in the future, not only the students of 0122 but also people from the entire school will understand the answers. Last night, when the Five River Basin was once again immersed in the joy of victory, almost all the fans believed that a dream long awaited for over twenty years would come true. In July, when the bid for the 2008 Olympics was finally awarded to Beijing, it might have signaled that this year was the year for the Chinese to realize their dreams, with many dreams to be fulfilled this year, and you were fulfilling your university dreams in such a year. I believe that the realization of the university dream will lead you further to your own ultimate ideals. Tomorrow, when you start your first day of formal university studies, it is also the day when you step into your dreams. I hope that every step you take in the future will be as solid and steady as your past steps, and as full of confidence as before. I dare not say how much I can contribute in this process, but I really hope to be the person who can help you when you encounter difficulties, and the person who can answer your doubts when you have them. I hope you can gain more in these four years than I did when I was your age, and that I can grow together with you in these four years. I want to give all of you a sentence that has accompanied me through my entire high school and university years. Some people might find it very familiar, but I believe that after changing a few words, it will bring greater inspiration to the young people of today. The road is long and the journey is arduous. I will strive to lead the way.
Comment: The hearts of young people are connected. The young counselor Bao Han began by using her own life experiences and reflections to transform Qu Yuan's "I will seek high and low" from the Li Sao into "I will strive to lead the way," trying to inspire and guide young students to weave dreams. This can be considered an application of the "first impression effect." (Qiu Bosheng)
New student counselors face students who have just entered university from high school. Many students are away from their parents and hometowns for the first time, studying and living independently. This special stage means that the work style and focus of new student counselors must also be "special." A good start is half the success, and the "first day" is of utmost importance. After meeting the students face-to-face, counselor Bao Han recorded her hopes before meeting them and her wishes after meeting them in her weekly journal. These emotions are difficult to express in face-to-face interactions but are indispensable, making the students feel the counselor's welcome and attention to each individual. This "first impression" is likely to be unforgettable, especially when the counselor shares her personal motto with the students, blending her own growth with the students' growth, actively integrating herself into the student group, and bridging the distance between teachers and students.
