Features: Xu Shuwei, styled Zhike, lived approximately from 1080 to 1154 AD. He was a native of Baisha in Zhenzhou (now Yizheng, Jiangsu Province) during the Song Dynasty. He was known as "Xu Shixue" in later generations because he once served as a Scholar in the Hanlin Academy and the Jixian Institute. He was not only a renowned expert in the study of Shanghan (a category of diseases in traditional Chinese medicine) during the Song Dynasty but also had a profound impact on the development of clinical medicine in later generations with his insights into the treatment of miscellaneous diseases. This book collects four extant works of Xu Shuwei, namely "Shanghan Bai Zheng Ge" (Hundred Cases of Shanghan in Verse), "Shanghan Fa Wei Lun" (Elucidations on Shanghan), and "Shanghan Jiu Shi Lun" (Ninety Cases of Shanghan) (the first three books are collectively known as "Xu Shuwei's Three Works on Shanghan"), as well as "Puji Shouben Fang" (Essential Prescriptions for Universal Relief). Based on the Qing Dynasty's Guangxu 7th Year edition of "Shiwanjuanlou Congshu," the Guangxu 13th Year edition of "Linglang Mishi," and the Japanese20th Year edition by Sō Hachirō, this book has been collated and annotated by referring to other versions of Xu Shuwei's extant works. It also examines the authenticity of "Puji Shouben Fang Xushi" (Continuation of Essential Prescriptions for Universal Relief) and presents the author's personal views. At the end of the book, there is an article titled "A Study of Xu Shuwei's Academic Thought," which provides a detailed introduction to Xu Shuwei's life, writings, academic thought, diagnostic and treatment experiences, and his influence on later generations of medicine. Additionally, an "Index of Theses" is included, which comprehensively lists the titles of published works on Xu Shuwei's academic thought from 1950 to 2004, facilitating readers' reference. This book holds certain reference value for those engaged in traditional Chinese medicine education and clinical practice.
