Patient's question:
Three ultrasound examinations showed that the uterus became larger each time, but the embryo did not grow. Why is this?Doctor's answer:
If after about 60 days there is still no visible fetal pole and fetal heartbeat, it may be considered that physiological factors are causing delayed embryonic development. Such factors as delayed menstruation, ovulation delay, or late conception can all result in a gestational sac smaller than the actual days since the last menstrual period. There is also a possibility of poor sperm or egg development, or infections such as mycoplasma, chlamydia, or rubella virus during pregnancy, or exposure to toxic and harmful substances during pregnancy, all of which can lead to poor gestational sac development, smaller than the normal gestational age.
