How is placenta previa treated

Patient's question:

Doctor, when I was 18 weeks pregnant, I had an ultrasound, and the doctor said my placenta was low, but the fetus was developing normally. Could you please tell me if a low-lying placenta will cause any problems? Is it placenta previa? How should it be treated? Thank you

Doctor's answer:

When the hazards of placenta previa are significant and it is not possible to perform fetal preservation treatment, cesarean section should be performed for the safety of the pregnant woman. Cesarean section helps women with placenta previa to quickly end delivery, and delivering the fetus in a short period of time is relatively safe for both the mother and the child. This is currently the main treatment method for placenta previa. Patients with complete placenta previa must undergo cesarean section to end delivery. For partial or marginal placenta previa in primiparas, cesarean section is also recommended. Performing cesarean section promptly and decisively can immediately end delivery, reduce fetal trauma, and decrease perinatal morbidity. It is also an emergency measure for severe bleeding caused by placenta previa.
