Features: Whether in the adversarial or inquisitorial trial systems, questioning is a vital part of the court's discourse and even a dynamic, realistic, and practical component of the entire judicial system. However, neither in foreign countries nor domestically, there has been a systematic study of court questioning from an interactive perspective. This book attempts to achieve the following objectives by analyzing the transcripts of 13 recorded public court trials (including criminal, civil, and administrative cases) through a combination of speech act theory (primary), discourse analysis, and corpus linguistics (secondary):
- Revealing the interactive mechanisms between questioners and answerers in court trials and the structural characteristics of questioning interactions in court trials.
- Revealing the interactive mechanisms, structural characteristics, and strategies within questioners and answerers in court trials.
- Describing the discourse form conflicts in court questioning interactions and revealing their characteristics, causes, and interactive reasoning mechanisms.
- Explaining the relationship between questioning interactions and purposes.
- Exploring the cooperative issues in questioning interactions.
- Revealing the models and current status of Chinese court trials after reforms, from the perspectives of questioning and question distribution.
