My amniotic fluid was deepest at 11.6 cm. Is that too much?

Patient's question:

Patient Gender: Female
Detailed Condition and Purpose of Consultation: Excess Amniotic Fluid measured at 11.6 cm

Doctor's answer:

At full term of pregnancy, the amount of amniotic fluid is approximately 800ml. If the amount of amniotic fluid exceeds 2000ml at any stage of pregnancy, or the amniotic fluid index (AFI) is greater than 18cm, it is referred to as polyhydramnios. Acute polyhydramnios often occurs between weeks 20 and 24 of pregnancy. If the amount of amniotic fluid is less than 300ml in the late stage of pregnancy, it is called oligohydramnios. In the early and middle stages of pregnancy, oligohydramnios is often followed by miscarriage. An AFI of less than or equal to 8cm is considered the critical value for oligohydramnios, while an AFI of less than or equal to 5cm is considered the absolute value for oligohydramnios.
AI stands for amniotic fluid index. During ultrasound, the center is the mother's navel, and it is divided into four regions: upper, lower, left, and right. The sum of the depths of the amniotic fluid in these four regions gives the amniotic fluid index. The normal range for the AFI in the late stage of pregnancy is 8 to 18 cm. When the AFI is less than 5cm, it indicates oligohydramnios, and pregnancy should be terminated as soon as possible.
