Hello experts and friends! My mother has been experiencing periodic cycles for over a decade.

Patient's question:

Hello everyone!
My mother got sick 10 years ago. The initial symptoms were approximately sweating every 30 minutes, and she often had indigestion, though it was hard to describe precisely. She was tested in multiple hospitals, but no specific results were found. Most hospitals treated her for menopausal syndrome, yet there has been no improvement to this day. Most hospitals checked, and her stomach showed no major issues. She is now 54 years old, and the test results indicated only mild superficial gastritis, with nothing else significant. I wonder if experts could provide some advice or specific medical addresses? Thank you all. I am not a medical professional, so my description of the symptoms may not be very clear.

Doctor's answer:

Hello: Based on the patient's condition, there may be a possibility of kidney yin deficiency. It is recommended to take Liuwei Dihuang Wan for regulation. At the same time, it is important to actively treat superficial gastritis.
Currently, there is no specific drug treatment for chronic superficial gastritis. It is generally advised that asymptomatic individuals do not require treatment, while symptomatic individuals can receive appropriate medication based on the relevant etiology, pathology, and clinical symptoms. The specific treatment methods are as follows:
(1) Etiological treatment: Removing the causative factors is the best strategy for treating and preventing chronic superficial gastritis. Therefore, it is important to avoid mental stress, quit smoking, moderately limit alcohol consumption, and minimize the use of drugs that irritate the stomach. It is also necessary to actively treat chronic tonsillitis, sinusitis, dental caries, and other upper respiratory tract infection foci.
(2) Dietary therapy: Patients with chronic superficial gastritis should follow a light, regular, and scheduled diet, avoiding overly acidic, spicy, cold, and rough foods.
(3) Medication treatment: The drug treatment for chronic superficial gastritis can generally be divided into two categories: drugs that protect the gastric mucosa and drugs that eliminate factors that damage the gastric mucosa.
Drugs that protect the gastric mucosa:
① Protopine: It is a succinate semiesterase prepared from glycyrrhizic acid. It can enhance the secretion of gastric mucosal mucus, prolong the lifespan of gastric epithelial cells, and mildly inhibit the activity of pepsin, thereby protecting the gastric mucosa from bile damage and preventing H+ back diffusion. Dosage: 100mg, three times daily. After 2 weeks, reduce to 50mg, three times daily, taken half an hour before meals. A course of 4–5 weeks is recommended. Side effects include water and sodium retention, so it is advisable to take hydrochlorothiazide and potassium supplements simultaneously.
② Sucralfate: This drug can chelate with pepsin, inhibiting its activity.
