Patient's question:
Women who sit for long periods are prone to infertility.Doctor's answer:
Hello:People spend most of their time sitting, except when sleeping. Whether at the office, eating, watching movies, or driving, sitting for seven or eight hours a day is quite common. However, many people don’t realize that prolonged sitting can cause problems.
Long-term sitting can lead to poor blood circulation and may also cause gynecological diseases, even potentially resulting in infertility.
Someone who sits for a long time is often lacking in exercise, which can lead to stagnation of qi and blood, making it easier for certain organs in the body to malfunction or become dysfunctional. Additionally, prolonged sitting can have a certain impact on infertility in women.
For white-collar women in their 30s, long-term sitting often causes severe pain before and during menstruation. Some of this pain is due to prolonged sitting causing menstrual blood to flow backward into the fallopian tubes, leading to lower abdominal and back pain. This is known as endometriosis, or "chocolate cysts," and is one of the causes of infertility. Furthermore, stagnation of qi and blood can easily lead to lymphatic or circulatory embolisms, blocking the fallopian tubes. Additionally, due to prolonged sitting and certain physical conditions, the endometrial tissue may grow outside the uterus due to stagnation of qi and blood, forming endometriosis, which is another significant cause of infertility.
Infertile patients must cooperate fully with their doctors during treatment and should not become overly anxious, as stress can disrupt the balance of the entire endocrine system, further reducing the chances of conception.
If your job requires you to sit almost all day, take a 10-minute break every 40 minutes to do some stretching exercises. After work, activities like walking, swimming, or practicing rhythmic exercises can also help improve circulation, which is affected by prolonged sitting.
