Does the ultrasound result have any problems?

Patient's question:

I had an ultrasound at 24 weeks of pregnancy that showed a low-lying placenta. The lower edge of the placenta was 2.6 cm from the internal cervical os. Is this result normal? The doctor didn't say anything at the time, but I heard from others that a low-lying placenta means you shouldn't have sexual intercourse. Is that true?

Doctor's answer:

The position of the placenta cannot be handled or controlled by oneself; one can only wait and see. As the uterus gradually enlarges, we will see if the placenta can move upward. During each ultrasound examination, it should be noted to observe its position. If, before labor, the placenta is still relatively low in position, it is likely that a cesarean section will be necessary. In that case, there is no need to practice breathing for pain relief delivery, as this method is applied to natural labor. Additionally, in this situation, it is best not to exercise excessively, but light walks are still acceptable.
