Features: This book includes "Small Pieces from the Chai Room," "Four Records of Ding and Yi," "Old Tales of Yecheng," and "Random Notes of Dongshan." Among them, "Small Pieces from the Chai Room" consists of three parts. Volumes I to III are selected from Lu Qian's column "Small Pieces from the Chai Room" in Shanghai's "Da Bao" newspaper from November 1949 to April 1951, before his death; Volume IV is selected from articles he published in "Da Bao" under the pseudonym Yin Hong during the same period; Volumes V and VI are selected from articles he published in "Yi Bao" from September 1950 to March 1951. "Four Records of Ding and Yi" is based on the first edition published by Nanjing Reader's Friend Society in August 1946. "Old Tales of Yecheng" is based on the edition published by Shanghai Bookstore in 1991, which reproduces "Nanjing Literature" (according to Issue No. 4 of "Nanjing Literature" in 1947), while also referencing the volume of "Myriad Series" published by Chongqing Myriad Weekly in June 1944 (such as the preface by Zhang Henshu and Lu Qian's self-introduction, both taken from the volume). "Random Notes of Dongshan" is based on the edition compiled and printed by Jiangning Literature Committee in October 1948. Two appendices are included at the end of the book: one is a collection of mourning articles published by his literary friends in "Da Bao" after his death; the other is notes and writings about Lu Qian by contemporaries. In the early 20th-century study of Chinese theater, Lu Qian was a prominent figure. He was a favored disciple of the renowned qu scholar Wu Mei and held multiple identities as a poet, literary and theatrical historian, sanqu writer, and playwright. During his lifetime, he tirelessly wrote academic works, essays, poetry, and qu. "Collected Writings of Jixiao" is divided into four sections: "Four Qu Studies of Lu Qian," "Drafts of Historical and Literary Theories of Lu Qian," "Miscellaneous Notes of Lu Qian," and "Selected Qu Poetry and Prose of Lu Qian." It selects and compiles Lu Qian's major academic works, essays, and poetry/qu writings, serving as important materials for studying Lu Qian and Chinese theater. This book is one of those sections.
