Is it a disease if menstruation unexpectedly stops?

Patient's question:

Detailed medical condition and consultation purpose: My menstrual cycle was normal before. On the 13th of this month, I had my period, but it stopped on the evening of the 14th after I was greatly startled. The past two days, I've been experiencing blood discharge while using the restroom. I'm very scared. Is this a sign of illness? Thank you! First follow-up question: The bleeding only occurs when using the restroom, and the amount is very small.

Doctor's answer:

Hello: Based on your description, it is considered to be ovulation bleeding.
During the mid-cycle, i.e., the ovulation period, due to a temporary decline in estrogen levels, the endometrium loses hormonal support, leading to partial shedding of the endometrium and causing regular vaginal bleeding, which is known as ovulation bleeding. In traditional Chinese medicine, it is referred to as "intermenstrual bleeding."
Treatment
1. Western medicine treatment: Diethylstilbestrol 0.25–0.5 mg per day, starting 3 days before ovulation and stopping 2–3 days after the bleeding stops.
2. Traditional Chinese medicine treatment: Liuwei Dihuang Wan, Gujing Wan, and Xuefu Zhuyu Wan.
Prevention and Care
1. Pay attention to menstrual and postpartum health care, maintain external genital hygiene, and prevent pelvic infection.
2. Keep a calm mood and avoid excessive stress.
