Features: The chimney-sweeping boy Tom is a wild child who has received no education. He suffers countless humiliations and abuses in the world, but he also picks up many bad habits born from ignorance: poor hygiene, lack of manners, selfishness, a tendency to lie, and so on. During a journey with his boss, a fairy gives him an insight: "Those who wish to be clean will become clean; and those who wish to be dirty will become dirty." When Tom is summoned to become a water child, he experiences a series of adventures and arrives on a magical island to receive an education, where he gradually grows up. Finally, Tom, despite his hardships, does something he was reluctant to do—help his boss, who has committed many misdeeds. Thus, with unwavering perseverance, Tom completes his underwater mission and walks the long path of growth.
