Patient's question:
Teacher:Hello!
I would like to ask how to take the birth control pill Mibefradil. Under normal circumstances, how many days after taking it can one have sexual activity without getting pregnant? Does it affect the menstrual cycle? Does the period come on the usual schedule while taking the pill? What is the birth control rate? If you want to have children, how long after stopping the pill can you get pregnant, and what are the side effects? Thank you, doctor.
Follow-up question: Under normal circumstances, how many days after taking it can one have sexual activity without getting pregnant? Does it affect the menstrual cycle? Does the period come on the usual schedule while taking the pill?
Doctor's answer:
1. Mifeprex is a combined oral contraceptive pill. One of the benefits of taking birth control pills is that they allow you to regulate your menstrual cycle, enabling you to change the timing of your period as needed.2. After finishing one pack of Mifeprex, there is no break; instead, you start the next pack and continue until the day you wish to stop.
Within 2-3 days after stopping the medication, you will experience withdrawal bleeding. At this point, your menstrual period has been delayed.
After 7 days, you begin taking the next pack of Mifeprex, but note that the 8th day becomes a new start in your monthly cycle.
3. You can shorten the break between packs by starting the next pack early to bring forward the next period. However, it’s important to note that the shorter the break, the less likely you are to experience withdrawal bleeding.
Alternatively, you can take the usual 14 pills and stop without taking or completing the remaining 7 pills, thereby advancing your menstrual cycle.
By using these methods, you can adjust your period when needed (e.g., for travel, studying abroad, or exams) to suit your schedule. However, avoid doing this too frequently.
1. How to take Mifeprex?
Take one pill at about the same time each day for 21 days (one full pack). After a 7-day break, start the next pack. Typically, withdrawal bleeding occurs during this break, usually starting 2-3 days after the last pill and possibly continuing until you start the next pack.
