Why does the uterus ache intermittently?

Patient's question:

Just finished my period (this time it was lighter, maybe there will still be some) Last night, I suddenly felt intermittent cramping pain in my cervix, which was quite regular. Later, I fell asleep and didn't feel it anymore.
Why could this be happening? I think it happened before too, and it disappeared after a short while.
Last month, the doctor said I had severe adnexitis and I took medication for half a month. This time, my period arrived 5 days later than usual.

Doctor's answer:

Hello, cervicitis is a common disease among women of childbearing age, with two types: acute and chronic. Acute cervicitis often coexists with acute endometritis or acute vaginitis, but chronic cervicitis is more common. The main symptoms include an increase in leukorrhea, which is viscous and mucous or purulent in nature, sometimes accompanied by blood streaks or mixed with blood, along with uterine pain.
Symptoms of Cervicitis
1. Acute Cervicitis: Increased leukorrhea, purulent in nature, accompanied by lower back pain, lower abdominal discomfort, and uterine pain.
2. Chronic Cervicitis: Excessive leukorrhea, creamy white in color, mucous in texture, or mixed with blood streaks in leukorrhea, or bleeding during intercourse, accompanied by vulvar itching, lower back and sacral pain, which worsens during menstruation.
Currently, there are numerous treatment methods available on the market. The safest option is still traditional Chinese medicine treatment, along with surgical and physical therapies. However, surgical treatments have significant side effects.
