Features: This series is called "Pocket Library." Classics are the soul of the library; ease of access is its essence; reading anytime, anywhere, and in any manner is its purpose. The selected titles in the library are the true classics that have been refined through hardship and trials in different cultures; the illustrations, carefully chosen and painstakingly collected from hundreds of rare books and private collections, are a faithful restoration of the essence of the classics. The small format design makes it as nimble as a wallet, and the special printing technique gives each book a subtle fragrance. Classics are not afraid of time, but life cannot withstand the erosion of "he who adapts survives." The charm of classics is better experienced than heard. It is better to use them to mend the gaps in our time and enhance the fragments of our days; it is better to use on-the-go reading to gather wisdom into a robe and to understand life through a journey of the soul. Reading classics costs the least travel expense to reach the farthest reaches of life.
Pinocchio is Collodi's masterpiece, published in 1880. It tells the story of an old man, Geppetto, who carves a block of wood that can cry and laugh into a puppet and treats the newly animated puppet as his son. The old man sells his coat to pay for his son's education. However, the puppet is always indulging in play and even sells his textbooks to watch a play. On the way home, he is tricked by a fox and a cat and nearly hanged, but is saved by a fairy. Later, he is thrown into prison by the judge of the Land of Fools; after escaping, he is trapped by a hunting device and forced to become a guard dog. He regrets it deeply, thinking, "If I had liked reading and working like other good children, I would be living happily with my father now, not here guarding a door for someone." At night, he is freed after helping his master catch a weasel. He longs to be a diligent student, but he cannot resist temptation. Under the influence of bad classmates, he skips school to watch sharks by the sea and is later sold to the Land of Toys, where he becomes a donkey. Eventually, he is saved by the fairy again. In the end, they reunite unexpectedly in the belly of a shark and manage to escape, settling by the sea. From then on, the puppet works every day, weaves baskets in his free time, reads, and writes at night, eventually becoming an honest, obedient, studious child who helps his parents.
Through the various twists and turns in Pinocchio's life, this fairy tale portrays the puppet's love for justice, hatred of evil, and innocent purity, teaching children to resist various temptations and to be honest, obedient, studious, hardworking, and capable of helping their parents. The work successfully portrays the character of the puppet. He is clever, kind, mischievous, and stubborn, and his story offers children valuable lessons and artistic inspiration. The work has been translated into many languages and is beloved by young readers around the world.
