Is pregnancy the reason why the monthly period doesn't come that month?

Patient's question:

Please ask if the period next month means you won't really get pregnant anymore. If you get pregnant, does the period not come that month or the next month? Please advise.

Doctor's answer:

Generally, after 10 days of cohabitation, a pregnancy test can be used to detect pregnancy, or blood tests can be taken at the hospital to accurately determine if pregnancy has occurred. The most common sign of pregnancy is a missed period. If your menstrual cycle is usually regular and you have had sexual intercourse without taking contraceptive measures, then when your period is delayed by 10 days, pregnancy should be suspected. If your menstrual cycle is irregular, other symptoms should also be checked.
After a missed period, symptoms such as dizziness, fatigue, sleepiness, chills, loss of appetite, varying degrees of nausea, food cravings (e.g., a preference for sour foods), aversion to greasy or strong odors, changes in appetite and preferences, and even vomiting may occur. Some may experience breast tenderness, darkening and tingling of the nipples and areolas, as well as frequent urination. These symptoms generally indicate pregnancy.
