My girlfriend has moderate cervical erosion. How is it treated?

Patient's question:

Detailed condition and consultation purpose: Moderate cervical erosion, accompanied by adnexitis. Want to do LEEP

Doctor's answer:

Hello: It can be done with the loop electrosurgical excision procedure (LEEP).
Cervical erosion is a common inflammatory condition of the female reproductive tract and is classified into three degrees—mild, moderate, and severe—based on the proportion of the cervix affected by erosion. Treatment methods include non-invasive and invasive treatments. Local medication administered vaginally is a non-invasive approach, but it is ineffective for moderate to severe cervical erosion. Invasive treatments involve local cervical therapy using methods such as phototherapy, cryotherapy, laser, and electrocautery. This method may cause minor local damage to the cervix and sometimes affect its ability to dilate during childbirth, but it does not lead to infertility. In fact, severe cervical erosion or acute infections that are left untreated can result in infertility. Therefore, for women who have not borne children and are diagnosed with cervical erosion without affecting pregnancy or acute infection, cervical laser treatment can be performed after childbirth.
