Features: The idea of writing this book originated at the end of 2003. While preparing teaching materials for the national price monitoring training course organized by the Price Monitoring Center of the National Development and Reform Commission, I carefully considered what content to include, what the trainees needed, and what would inspire and help them theoretically and practically. Based on my many years of work experience and understanding of practical needs, I decided to introduce some basic theories of thinking and methods from a perspective of thinking and methods. By explaining the theory of thinking, ways of thinking, thinking tools, and general scientific methods, I aimed to help the trainees understand the fundamentals of thinking and methods and their role. Additionally, I introduced some specific price analysis methods in combination with actual work. After the lecture, it received positive feedback. At the same time, I felt limited by the lecture format and realized that many aspects were not discussed in depth, comprehensively, or systematically, which sparked the idea of writing this book. Due to numerous daily administrative tasks, it was difficult to focus, and the book was delayed until the end of 2005 before I began writing it. To my great appreciation, China Market Press showed favor by agreeing to publish this book and including it in the "Young and Middle-aged Economists' Library" series. I feel inadequate to be called an expert and even more uneasy to be labeled a scholar. With such kindness shown to me, I can only accept it with humility. Comrade Bi Jingquan, Deputy Director of the National Development and Reform Commission, kindly agreed to write the preface for this book, and I am deeply grateful for his support! Having long been engaged in practical work, although I place importance on learning, I deeply feel that my theoretical level is not high. Therefore, it is inevitable that there are some errors and shortcomings in this book, and I sincerely welcome readers' criticism and corrections. If this book can raise readers' attention to thinking and methods and provide them with some inspiration, it will have achieved its purpose. During the writing process, I referred to relevant books and incorporated some research findings from others. In addition to the notes in the book, I do not list them one by one here and express my gratitude in this regard.
