Can I get an IUD if I haven't given birth for less than 3 months?

Patient's question:

Delivered on September 27th of this year (vaginally), may I ask if it's possible to get an IUD now?

Doctor's answer:

If it is a normal delivery, the IUD can be placed 3 months postpartum. If it is a cesarean section, it can be placed 6 months postpartum. Rest is required after the surgery, and heavy physical labor should be avoided. Bathing in a hot tub and sexual activity are prohibited within 2 weeks. During the first 3 months, attention should be paid to whether the IUD has fallen out during bowel movements or menstruation. Regular follow-up visits should be scheduled within the first year to check if the IUD is still in place.
