From this book, you can trace the cultural journey of art. In the process of studying the modernization of Chinese indigenous art, a challenging and imaginative thing is that the scholar's academic work can grow alongside the subject of study. With the academic foundation laid earlier, combined with relevant creative experience, a manuscript oriented towards the "heart" emerged—this is Tracing the Journey: The Cultural Passage of Art.
It is called "oriented towards the 'heart'" because its meaning is as clear as its print: , it is not driven by any external task. Its academic starting point is a strong inner need. Second, it is closely related to one of my personal artistic projects. It has conceptual complementarity and conceptual elevation in relation to the "Zhang Qiang Tracing the Journey Report AB Model" and the "Zhang Qiang Tracing the Journey Report AC Model." Third, the writing process is one of an ongoing reduction from "personal experience" to "academic principles." Initially, my personal artistic experience occupied a significant portion of the manuscript. As the writing progressed and through subsequent revisions, my personal artistic creations were used as case studies, gradually fading until they completely disappeared. This process made me increasingly believe that only by drawing from broader academic principles could the academic rigor of this book be strengthened. Fourth, the writing of this book has always been guided by the following ideal: Concepts born from the contemporary academic context of China can possess the power to transcend all barriers of human culture.
