Features: Fan Zeng, styled Shi Yi, alias Bao Chong Zhai Zhu, was born in July 1938 in Nantong, Jiangsu. In 1955, he entered the History Department of Nankai University but transferred to the Chinese Painting Department after half a year. He graduated in 1962 and was assigned to the Chinese History Museum, where he assisted ShenCongwen in compiling historical clothing materials and copied many excellent paintings. In 1978, he was transferred to the Central Academy of Arts and Crafts to teach. In 1984, he moved to the School of Oriental Art at Nankai University in Tianjin, serving as the head of the department. He donated over 3 million RMB to build the department. He is a member of the Chinese Artists' Association. He specializes in Chinese figure painting and is also skilled in poetry and calligraphy. Works such as Song of the Spiritual Path are held in the Fan Zeng Museum in Okayama, Japan, while others like Eight Immortals are kept in the National Art Museum of China, and Autumn Echoes are in the Birmingham Museum in the United States. He has published works such as Illustrated Collection of Lu Xun's Novels, Fan Zeng: Paintings and Calligraphy, Fan Zeng Paintings, Fan Zeng's Poems, Fan Zeng: Paintings and Calligraphy, Fan Zeng's Embrace, and Fan Zeng's Autobiography. In 1982, he received the Japanese-China Cultural Exchange Merit Cup, and in 1986, he was awarded the Golden Award for Special Contributions to Japanese-China Art Exchange.
