Patient's question:
Hello, I am currently 26 weeks pregnant. In recent days, the baby has been kicking frequently in the liver area. During the early stages of pregnancy, I experienced severe reactions, and my SGPT level was 72 at one point. The doctor said it was due to excessive reaction causing liver damage, but it returned to normal naturally after about four months. My liver function has been normal ever since. Now, the baby keeps kicking in the liver area, and I occasionally feel some pain there. Could this be causing harm to the liver?Doctor's answer:
If the baby's activity is only occasional and not particularly frequent, you can gently pat the abdomen to soothe them. If it is more frequent, you should seek medical attention to check if it is caused by oxygen deprivation and to monitor the fetal heartbeat and other conditions.Fetal movement refers to the baby's activity within the uterine cavity that impacts the uterine wall. From the fifth month of pregnancy, the mother can clearly feel the baby's movements, such as stretching, kicking, and impacting the uterine wall. This is what fetal movement is. The frequency, speed, and strength of fetal movement indicate the baby's well-being. Normal fetal movement should be at least 3 to 5 times per hour, with 30 to 40 or more distinct movements in 12 hours. However, due to individual differences in fetuses, some may move around 100 times in 12 hours. As long as the fetal movement is regular, rhythmic, and does not change significantly, it proves that the baby is developing normally.
