Patient's question:
Hello doctor! I am a 25-year-old woman who has always had irregular periods. Sometimes taking progesterone and Chinese medicine helps regulate them. For several years, I have been experiencing lower abdominal pain. Tests revealed enlarged ovaries on both sides, but now one side shows no significant enlargement, and the other side is normal. I was diagnosed with primary infertility.Testing began in October, but the results showed no mature follicles. Clomiphene alone has not been effective. I am now very eager to get pregnant and would greatly appreciate your guidance. Thank you very much!
Doctor's answer:
Causes of ovarian enlargement:1. Ovarian tumors: A general term for ovarian swelling, enlargement, and neoplasms. Physiological types include follicular cysts and corpus luteum cysts. Pathological types are further divided into neoplastic and non-neoplastic tumors. Non-neoplastic types include endometriosis and polycystic ovaries.
2. Ovarian inflammation: Ovarian enlargement, surface edema, ischemia, or adhesions, with a membranous substance covering the surface. The ovary may form adhesions with the fallopian tubes, pelvic sidewall, or posterior wall of the uterus, or the ovary and fallopian tubes may be adhered together. In cases of an ovarian abscess, a purulent exudate may be visible on the ovarian surface, with significant ovarian enlargement.
