Patient's question:
How many days does it take to treat cervical erosion with medication? I have been using it for 10 days now. I am using Xiaomi Lian. Currently, the symptoms are yellowish peeling in the vagina, with a small amount of black mixture.First follow-up question: I have completed one course of treatment. If I stop using it now, will it affect future medication?
Doctor's answer:
Hello: The duration of medication use depends on how well you absorb the drug. There are many treatment methods for cervical erosion, and appropriate choices can be made based on the severity of erosion. The main methods are as follows:(1)Medication Treatment: For small erosion areas with shallow inflammation infiltration, the following medication treatments can be used:
① 10~20% silver nitrate: Apply locally once a week, with 2-4 applications per course.
② Potassium permanganate: Apply locally after menstruation, and repeat treatment once after 1-2 months. When using these medications, handle with care to prevent burns to the surrounding vaginal wall, and ensure sterilization during application to prevent reinfection.
(2)Physical Treatment: Used for larger erosion areas with deeper inflammation infiltration.
① Electrocautery: Use a special electrocautery device to burn the erosion tissue, causing it to necrose and fall off. It must reach a certain depth for effective treatment.
② Cryotherapy: Use a special rapid freezing device to freeze and necrose the diseased tissue of the erosion area, causing it to fall off. Liquid nitrogen is commonly used as the cryogenic agent, lowering the temperature of the cryoprobe to -196°C. Apply it to the surface of the cervix to freeze and necrose the erosion tissue, allowing new squamous epithelial tissue to regenerate. One session is usually sufficient for cure. Generally, there are no adverse reactions, though some patients may experience mild dizziness or lower abdominal pain.
③ Laser Treatment: Often uses a carbon dioxide laser treatment device. The special laser treatment head is used to irradiate the erosion tissue, causing it to carbonize, form a scab, and fall off, followed by the regeneration of new squamous epithelial tissue. One session is usually sufficient for cure. There are no special reactions during the procedure.
