Features: The Gunslinger is the second volume of the novel The Dark Tower. The story of The Dark Tower draws inspiration, to some extent, from Robert Browning's narrative poem The Return of the Rohan Ronins to Dark Tower (in fact, this work is also influenced by Shakespeare's play King Lear). The second volume of The Dark Tower, The Gunslinger, tells the story of Roland, the last Gunslinger in a transformed world, who finally captures the man in black, a wizard he has pursued for a long time—how long is unknown. The man in black turns out to be a fellow named Walter, who falsely claims to have had ties with Roland's father before the world transformed. Roland continues his quest for the "Dark Tower." Along the way, he is attacked by various mysterious creatures and brings back a drug-addicted man from New York, Eddie Dean, to his world, who becomes his friend. They travel together and meet a self-isolated African American woman named Odetta, as well as the evil side of Odetta, Dita. The four continue their journey, and Odetta and Dita gradually merge into a new person, Susan, who later marries Eddie.
