Patient's question:
Please ask the expert: My baby is just ten months old, and I want to practice contraception. Please ask if there are other better contraceptive measures besides the intrauterine device (IUD).Doctor's answer:
1. Oral contraceptives and wearing condoms2. Abstain from sexual intercourse during ovulation. Calculation methods:
1) Estimate ovulation based on the menstrual cycle. The middle of the two menstrual periods is considered the ovulation period, which is calculated by adding 14–15 days to the day of the last menstrual period. However, this method is not precise.
2) Measure ovulation using basal body temperature. Generally, after menstruation, the body temperature remains at a lower level (36.2–36.5°C). During ovulation, the temperature slightly drops first, then rises sharply after ovulation, about 0.5°C higher than before ovulation, and remains around 36.8°C. This low-to-high temperature fluctuation indicates that ovulation has occurred. This method provides a more accurate measurement of ovulation.
3. Tubal ligation.
