What should I do if there is a cystic mass in the attachment?

Patient's question:

The last time I had my period was on the 31st of last month, and it's already the 2nd of this month, but I haven't gotten it yet. Additionally, the discharge over the past two days has contained streaks of blood, but it doesn't seem like my period. What could be the reason?
Follow-up question: A few days ago, I had some right abdominal pain and underwent a color Doppler ultrasound, which revealed a cystic mass in the left adnexa. However, in September, a previous ultrasound showed no issues with either adnexa.
The doctor said to wait three days after my period before further examination. I'm not married and haven't had any sexual activity. What is going on?

Doctor's answer:

Hello, occasional early or delayed menstruation by 9 days is normal. As for blood streaks in the discharge, it is recommended to have a vaginal discharge examination at the hospital.
Ovarian cysts can be physiological (normal and naturally disappear with the menstrual cycle) or pathological (formed due to disease). Physiological cysts do not require surgery, while pathological cysts often need surgery for diagnosis and appropriate treatment. For women of childbearing age, the next steps depend on the nature of the cyst.
Ultrasound results are very helpful for diagnosis. If the ultrasound indicates an anechoic cyst without septations, you can wait for 3 months and repeat the ultrasound. If the cyst still exists after 3 months, surgical treatment should be considered. For other types of cysts, they are mostly pathological and should be surgically diagnosed.
