Patient's question:
Can humans see the hymen? What was it like before and after it broke?Doctor's answer:
The hymen is very close to the vaginal opening, and vigorous or movements as well as trauma can all lead to its rupture. Simple pain alone is not sufficient to determine if the hymen is broken. If there is vaginal bleeding, it is highly likely to be caused by the rupture. However, the absence of bleeding does not absolutely guarantee that the hymen is intact, though the possibility is slightly lower. It is difficult for women to judge whether their hymen is broken on their own, and even the male engaging in sexual intercourse with them cannot easily determine it. This is because some women have very tough hymens, which may not break even after multiple sexual encounters.
