Patient's question:
How many days should I use medication to treat cervical erosion? I have been using it for 10 days. I am using Xiaomi Lian. Currently, the symptoms are yellowish scaling in the vagina, with a small amount of black mixture.First follow-up question: I have completed one course of treatment. If I stop using the medication now, will it affect future use?
Doctor's answer:
Hello: The duration of medication depends on how well you absorb the drug. There are many treatment methods for cervical erosion, and appropriate choices can be made based on the severity of erosion. The main methods are as follows:(1)Medication: For small erosion areas with shallow inflammation, the following medication methods can be used:
① 10~20% silver nitrate: Apply locally once a week, with 2-4 applications constituting one course.
② Potassium permanganate: Apply locally after menstruation, and repeat the medication once after 1-2 months. When using these medications, be cautious to prevent burns to the surrounding vaginal wall, and ensure sterilization during application to prevent reinfection.
(2)Physical therapy: Used for larger erosion areas with deeper inflammation.
① Electrocautery: Use a special electrocautery device to burn the erosion tissue, causing it to necrose and fall off. The treatment should reach a certain depth for better efficacy.
② Cryotherapy: Use a special rapid freezing device to freeze and necrose the diseased tissue of the erosion, causing it to fall off. Liquid nitrogen is commonly used as the cryoprotectant, with the cryoprobe temperature reaching -196°C. Apply it to the surface of the cervix to freeze and necrose the erosion tissue, allowing new squamous epithelium to regenerate. One session is usually sufficient for healing. Generally, there are no adverse reactions, though some patients may experience mild dizziness or lower abdominal pain.
③ Laser therapy: Often uses a carbon dioxide laser treatment device. The special laser treatment head is used to irradiate the erosion tissue, causing it to carbonize, form a scab, and fall off, followed by the regeneration of new squamous epithelium. One session is usually sufficient for healing. There are no special reactions during the procedure.
