Not pregnant, why didn't my period come?

Patient's question:

The period mentioned last time came on October 19th, and then it improved. It came again for 2 days on November 5th and then stopped. It hasn't come yet today. I went to the hospital, had an ultrasound, and received injections, but it still hasn't arrived. I'm so worried! What is going on with me?!!! It's not pregnancy, so what could it be?

Doctor's answer:

Based on your description, it is possible that you may be experiencing amenorrhea. Secondary amenorrhea refers to the condition where a woman, after experiencing menarche, does not menstruate for three months or more. The normal menstrual cycle in women is regulated by the endocrine hormones secreted by the hypothalamus, pituitary gland, and ovaries. Among these, the pituitary gonadotropin plays a leading role in regulating ovarian function and maintaining the menstrual cycle. When secondary amenorrhea occurs, it is often accompanied by symptoms such as depression, irritability, soreness in the lower back and knees, dizziness and tinnitus, palpitations and shortness of breath, and fatigue. It is recommended that you seek medical attention for a detailed examination and treatment as soon as possible.
