Hui and Qiang

Publish Date: 2006-05-01
Features: This book is the posthumous work of Mr. Ma Changshou, which he began writing in 1962 and continued intermittently until 1965, but it was never completed. During the ten-year Cultural Revolution, although the manuscript underwent several transfers, it was fortunate to be preserved, while the author, due to severe mental suffering, passed away in May 1971. Mr. Ma dedicated his life to ethnic studies, tirelessly and diligently for over forty years, producing a wealth of scholarly works, particularly making significant contributions to the history of Chinese ethnic groups. With his extensive knowledge and rigorous academic approach, he paid special attention to conducting firsthand investigations in ethnic minority regions, resulting in many original insights and a distinctive scholarly perspective. This unfinished manuscript was entrusted to me by the publisher for editing and publication. Although I have studied the history of Chinese ethnic groups under Mr. Ma for many years and know my own limitations, I am fully aware that I am not qualified for this task. However, feeling that it is my duty to take on this responsibility, I reluctantly accepted it. If there are any discrepancies from the author's original intent, the responsibility lies with the editor.
