Doctor's answer:

Hello:
Non-lactational nipple discharge can be differentiated from non-physiological discharge, but non-lactational nipple discharge needs to be distinguished between true discharge and false discharge.
True nipple discharge is the leakage from the nipple duct orifice, which is an important manifestation of breast disease, without other diseases in the nearby nipple skin or parenchyma.
False discharge is caused by nipple skin erosion, inflammation, or due to breast duct fistula, and is not truly from the ducts. Here, only true nipple discharge is described.
Nipple discharge accounts for 5%-10% of all breast diseases, with most being benign, among which intraductal papilloma is the most common.
  Etiology
It is caused by various benign or malignant breast diseases. Most are benign, with intraductal papilloma being the most common.
