Features: As the predecessor of modern HRM, traditional personnel management was once considered one of the fundamental management functions in business, equally important as production, marketing, and financial management. However, the content of traditional personnel management was mostly administrative and procedural, requiring little complex concepts or techniques, making it relatively easy to master but often undervalued. In the past 30 years, with advancements in technology, the increasing proportion of white-collar workers, economic globalization, and intensified competition, businesses have become more reliant on the initiative and creativity of their employees. This led to the emergence of modern human resource management (HRM). Its fundamental philosophy and principles, as well as the complexity and sophistication of the theories and techniques involved, differ significantly from traditional personnel management, making them incomparable. As a result, HRM has almost become a brand-new discipline, playing a pivotal role in management, practice, and management education.
For this book, we have the following writing principles and strived to adhere to and implement them during the writing process:
1. Systematic Completeness: This refers to the book covering the entire framework of this discipline, discussing the basic concepts, theories, and techniques of its major components to provide readers with a comprehensive understanding of the subject.
2. Frontier Content: This means the book will strive to incorporate the latest developments in theory and technology within this discipline both domestically and internationally.
3. Practical Application and Localization Orientation: While it must be acknowledged that developed countries have a head start in research and practice in this field, with faster progress and more experience, their advanced aspects should be learned, introduced, anded. However, blind imitation should be avoided, as it may overshadow the essence.
4. Unity of Teaching Content and Methods: As this discipline is relatively new to China, we are not only unfamiliar with its content but also lack understanding and mastery of teaching methods suitable for it.
