Patient's question:
Hello!I have severe pain in my lower right abdomen. I had a vaginal discharge test at the hospital, and one of the results showed BV, which was positive. Other test results included cleanliness III; leukocytes++; Candida /; Trichomonas /; epithelial cells++; Chlamydia negative. Could you please explain what BV means and whether these test results can determine what illness I have?
First follow-up question: Thank you! I still don’t understand. The doctor said my vaginal opening was red and swollen, so they performed the tests mentioned above. What could cause abnormal BV, and what diseases might it lead to? How should I be treated? Please advise the experts.
Doctor's answer:
Hello: Bacterial infections are usually caused by poor hygiene.Treatment for Bacterial Vaginosis:
1. Metronidazole (Flagyl)
Usage: Take 0.2-0.4g orally each time, 2-3 times a day, for 7 consecutive days. It can also be administered via intravenous infusion.
2. Amoxicillin
Usage: Take 0.5g orally each time, 3 times a day. It can also be diluted and administered via intravenous infusion in two divided doses of 6g per day.
Local Treatment
1. Clean the area frequently to maintain hygiene.
2. Regularly rinse the vagina with 3% boric acid or dilute acetic acid, followed by rinsing with clean water to alleviate symptoms.
3. Using erythromycin solution for rinsing can also be effective.
4. Rinse the vagina with "Jie'eryin" or "Fu Yin Jie" internally, once a day or every other day.
Precautions:
- Sexual partners, whether symptomatic or not, should receive appropriate treatment.
- Bacterial vaginosis may coexist with other sexually transmitted diseases, so relevant tests and corresponding treatments should be conducted.
