Patient's question:
Medical Description: Had an abortion with D&C two years ago. Married for two years with no children. Examination results show blocked fallopian tubes. Previous Treatment and Effect: Had two hydrotubation procedures and one contrast examination, but still blocked. Desired Help: Want to know what else should be done, what kind of surgery has the highest success rate, and what the cost is.Doctor's answer:
Hello, tubal hydrotubation is only effective for mild adhesions, but the results are not guaranteed. If the adhesions are mild, they are usually flushed open during tubal contrast examination. If the contrast examination does not open them, the possibility of using hydrotubation to unblock the fallopian tubes is not high. Especially in cases where one side is open while the other is not, during hydrotubation, water flows to the side with lower pressure. If all the water flows to the open side, it has little effect on the blocked side.Clinically, many patients have little understanding of tubal hydrotubation and blindly undergo the procedure. Repeated hydrotubation is harmful rather than beneficial to the fallopian tubes. First, repeated hydrotubation may affect the fallopian tubes' own motility and ciliary movement. Second, each hydrotubation increases the risk of infection, especially when sterilization is not strict. Many cases that were not severely affected by the fallopian tubes may worsen after hydrotubation.
