Features: This book aims to help you:
- Believe that you are fully prepared for debate;
- Clarify your goals and how to achieve them;
- Be competent in debate when the opportunity arises;
- Learn from your own debates and strive to do better next time;
- Understand your strengths and be confident in them;
- Recognize your weaknesses but not be intimidated by them;
- Analyze and work on improving your weaknesses.
This book will provide practical assistance to undergraduate law students, enabling them to participate in debate training and mock courts. It also helps students enrolled in the Legal Practice Course (LPC) or Bar Vocational Course, whose content may vary depending on the institution. The overall framework of the book is set by the Law Society, which will guide them in achieving a qualified level of debate proficiency. Good performance is always determined by both legal knowledge and the application of skills.
This book does not intend to discuss legal or procedural issues but offers advice on meeting the entry standards for the Legal Practice Course and achieving excellence in practice. However, since procedural factors are crucial for effective debate in real-life scenarios, we cannot omit this content when discussing litigation procedures. Nevertheless, the author will strive to simplify it as much as possible. Similar procedures limit debates in various courts and institutions, and references to descriptive procedures or evidence rules are also minimized to focus on the discussion and analysis of techniques essential for organizing a persuasive case statement.
It should be noted, however, that a solid understanding of the procedural rules governing litigation is necessary before participating in court debates.
