Features: The author delves into the active role banks play in the early stages of economic development, exploring aspects such as monetary credit creation, reputation enhancement, credit expansion, information collection and processing, negotiation capabilities, contract enforcement, supervision of moral hazard behavior, and industrial coordination. Through an analysis of the evolution of the role of the banking system in historical processes, it is pointed out that a banking-centric financial system is fundamentally more suitable for economic environments still in a primary stage of development compared to direct financing markets. Without a fully developed banking system, a truly efficient direct financing market cannot emerge, which in turn would constrain the establishment of a genuine market economy system. The author notes that as the economy grows, the inherent flaws in the capital structure of the banking system will accumulate and become exposed due to changes in the economic environment. The role of the banking system in diversifying risks will be constrained by its own capabilities, making the development of direct financing methods an inevitable outcome of market development. Current specific measures for reforming the banking system will largely determine the future efficiency of the financial system's financing. Given China's current stage of economic development, establishing a healthy banking system is of utmost importance.
