Features: The Painted Spectrum of Song Lyrics was originally titled Poetry After Poetry. Published in the 40th year of the Wanli era (1612), it selects 100 exquisite Song lyrics from the Cotswold Poetry After Poetry compiled by an anonymous Southern Song Dynasty editor, with one illustration for each poem. The compiler was Wang Shi of the Ming Dynasty. The selection features works by Qin Guan, Su Shi, Huang Tingjian, and Liu Yong most prominently, providing a basic reflection of the general outline of Song lyrics before the Southern Song Dynasty. The woodcuts were created by renowned masters of the Huizhou school, each exquisitely crafted. One poem, one illustration—complementing each other in interest. As Wu Ruyuan’s preface states: "When displayed on the desk, one indulges in the scenery, gradually losing oneself in emotion." The illustrations in this edition are printed from a Ming Dynasty woodblock edition, with minor adjustments made to maintain the original layout. The annotations and explanations provided in this edition are insightful and precise, with detailed explanations of the allusions mentioned in the lyrics, greatly benefiting readers in understanding the book.
